Fitzpatrick & Foster's Major breakthrough!

In some ways, it felt inevitable. In other ways, impossible. Matt Fitzpatrick has been trending towards a professional win in America and had won on this course before (at the U.S. Amateur), but his name just didn’t feel… big enough - not amongst World No.1 Scheffler, reigning Champ Rahm and Major winners like McIlroy & Morikawa.

But Fitzpatrick isn’t the young amateur who won in Boston with his brother on the bag anymore; he’s a self-assured 27-year-old who can strike the ball as well as anybody in the world… Oh, and he has Billy Foster on the bag.

Having grown up playing in Sheffield, the new U.S. Open Champion is no stranger to playing in harsh winds. And, with Foster – who claimed his own first Major despite a stellar career with the likes of Seve & Westwood - on the bag, he judged one of the toughest courses imaginable to absolute perfection on Sunday.

It was a victory that British golf fans can revel in for some time, but it seems as though the brutal Country Club set-up was popular around the world. Now, it’s over to Congressional and the Women’s PGA Championship to produce a great tournament on a brilliant course…

We hope watching the U.S. Open didn’t scare you too much, because we’d love to see you at the club this week. Feel free to get in touch below for coaching, fitting or just to hit some golf balls!
