FedEx Cup / Tour Championship (2025)

The 2025 Tour Championship, final leg of the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup Playoffs held at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, featured the top 30 players on the FedEx Cup points list competing for the season's title. The event unfolded under a new format with all competitors starting at even par, meaning that it was anyone's game! After a long career of near misses, it was Tommy Fleetwood who finally broke through in his 164th PGA Tour start, firing a final-round 68 to finish 18 under par and win by three shots over Patrick Cantlay and Russell Henley. He had previously summed up his season with the phrase "close but no cigar" in an interview conducted in the lead up to the event, and it was great to see him get over the line on the biggest stage.

As a result, Tommy earned the FedEx Cup title and a massive $10 million prize, drawing praise from peers and legends, including Tiger Woods, and was celebrated for both his resilience and character. The event also showcased strong contention from Cantlay and world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, despite Scheffler faltering on Sunday.

Betfred British Masters (2025)

Back on home soil, The 2025 Betfred British Masters, hosted by Sir Nick Faldo, was held at the iconic Belfry Hotel & Resort’s Brabazon Course this weekend, serving as the final DP World Tour event counting toward automatic Ryder Cup qualification for Europe, meaning that the stakes were especially high for those in contention.

Alex Noren claimed his long-awaited first worldwide title in seven years, and his second British Masters win, scoring 16 under par, just edging out Nicolai Højgaard and Kazuma Kobori by one stroke. Noren’s clutch run, including three birdies between holes 15 & 17, sealed victory despite a late bogey on 18. Rasmus Højgaard secured an automatic spot on the European Ryder Cup team by finishing tied for 13th.

Between Fleetwood’s emotional breakthrough at the Tour Championship and Noren’s return-to-winning-form at the British Masters, both tournaments delivered thrilling finales with huge implications for season titles and Ryder Cup line-ups.

The 2025 European automatic Ryder Cup qualifiers are now confirmed as Rory McIlroy, Robert MacIntyre, Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose, Tyrrell Hatton, and Rasmus Højgaard.

We'll have to wait another week for Luke Donald's wildcard picks, which are set to be announced following the conclusion of this week’s European Masters at Cran-sur-Sierre in Switzerland. Can anyone come from the pack like Ludvig Åberg did just a couple of years ago? We'll have to wait and see!
